This intermediate to advanced program will go beyond mere best practices to discuss the more nuanced drafting issues involved in the division of marital property and assets in marital settlement agreements. Mr. Rollinger will speak on the Top 5 tax issues missed in marital settlement agreements, the Top 5 tax issues to consider when drafting a marital settlement agreement, and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 and the significant changes to alimony that all family law attorneys need to know. Speakers shall also address creative solutions to dealing with alimony and bonus structures; an in-depth analysis of the language necessary for the complex division of real property, retirement assets, and benefits; successfully establishing provisions to protect your client’s ability to recover hidden assets; drafting to ensure the enforceability of marital settlement agreements; and how to litigate enforcement issues in order to enhance your client’s ability to enforce.
